Make Your Own Espresso Set with Porcelain Slip Casting
Join ceramic artist Dima Gurevich in this hands-on workshop at his Vancouver Chinatown studio, where participants will explore porcelain slip casting using plaster molds. Each participant will create one small plate and two espresso cups, designing unique patterns and surfaces with colored porcelain. This workshop is suitable for beginners and experienced artists alike, offering a creative and supportive environment to experiment with form, texture, and surface decoration. All materials are provided, and Dima will guide participants to complete their pieces. Previously featured in the Eastside Arts Festival, Dima brings years of teaching experience and a passion for making ceramic arts accessible to everyone. Come create your own one-of-a-kind porcelain objects in a fun and engaging workshop.

LOCATION: Unit 155, 288 East Georgia St. Vancouver Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your workshop time to allow time to check in. There will be somone to help you check-in outside of the studio.
AGES: Adults (ages 16 and up), Suitable for beginners and up
PRICE: $35 Equity Price, $45 Standard Price, $55 Supporter Price
ACCESSIBILITY: This studio is not wheelchair accessible. The studio is located up a flight of stairs and there is no elevator avalaible. Studios may be hot due to the summer weather. We will communicate verbally with members of the public using listening and spoken language in English. Seating in the studio is varied, some may have chairs or stools at short height, counter, or bar height seating. Weight capacities of seating is unknown. Please let us know if you have any accessibility needs.
About the Artist
Dima Gurevich is a Vancouver-based ceramic artist working primarily with slip casting and plaster mold making. Originally from Kazakhstan, he has been working with ceramics for more than 13 years and runs a ceramics studio in Vancouver’s Eastside Arts District. His practice explores form, texture, and experimental surfaces, often combining traditional ceramic techniques with contemporary approaches. Dima also teaches workshops on slip casting and plaster mold making, helping artists and beginners learn accessible ways to create ceramic objects and develop their own ideas in clay.

Festival Concert in MacLean Park: Festival Concert in MacLean Park: Saturday, July 25 from 3pm - 8pm
Join us at MacLean Park for an afternoon and evening of live music, public art activities, food trucks, and a beer garden from 3:00–8:00 PM. Browse the art shop, take part in free all-ages creative activities, and enjoy performances throughout the day in the park. Come early and make a full day of it by visiting the neighbouring Strathcona Blocks Party from 12:00–5:00 PM on the 800 block of East Hastings, featuring local businesses, free activities, and live performances before settling in for the concert and evening festivities.
This is workshop is part of the vibrant celebration of visual and performing arts of the 6th annual Eastside Arts Festival, where creativity knows no bounds. The Eastside Arts Festival (formerly Create! Arts Festival) is a young and up-in-coming grassroots initiative, bringing together local artists and performers and the community to explore, learn and create art together in the Eastside Arts District.
