Learn a beautiful hand-sewing technique and create something you can take home and use.
In this relaxed, hands-on workshop, you’ll make a drinks coaster using broderie suisse — a decorative embroidery technique that transforms checked fabric into striking geometric patterns.
Perfect for complete beginners or anyone wanting to refresh or refine their hand-sewing skills, you’ll learn how to combine just three simple stitches — running stitch, cross stitch and weaving — to create an intricate-looking design.
Choose from four different patterns and make your coaster your own with your choice of colours from our supplied embroidery threads. You’re also welcome to bring your own threads if you have favourite colours you’d like to use.
All supplies are provided to make one coaster, so you can simply come along, learn the technique and enjoy some creative time.
Want to keep stitching afterwards? Take-home kits will be available for $5 each so you can make more coasters in different patterns and colour combinations.
No previous sewing or embroidery experience is needed.
