Make a Mug Monday at The Pottery Shop (Town Square)
About this Event
PLEASE NOTE OUR NEW LOCATION IN TOWN SQUARE!
We are on the north side of the mall, between Paradise Card Breaks and IKON Homes.
Skip the pottery wheel and create your own custom mug from scratch!
In this beginner-friendly workshop, we’ll guide you through handbuilding a one-of-a-kind stoneware mug using simple slab and slip/score techniques. You’ll shape your mug, attach a handle and add your own finishing touches.
No experience needed — just come ready to get a little messy and have fun.
$40 per person includes:
- Instructor-led session
- Stoneware clay
- All tools and materials
- Specialty glaze choices
- Two kiln firings
Finishing Options
Studio Glazed — Included: Choose your glaze color and we’ll glaze and fire your piece for you.
Glaze It Yourself — Additional Fee: Return for one of our glazing workshops, offered several times each month, to glaze your piece yourself before its final firing.
Finished pieces are typically ready for pickup in approximately 4–6 weeks.
Important Things to Know
This is a beginner handbuilding experience — no pottery wheel. Most beginner projects result in a small-to-medium-sized mug.
Ceramics are an unpredictable medium, and we cannot guarantee that your piece will survive the drying, bisque firing or glaze firing process. Cracking, warping, separation, breakage and variations in shape or glaze can occur. Clay also shrinks approximately 15% from wet clay to the finished piece.
If your piece is not fire-able or does not survive the process, you may choose a finished piece as a memento of your session.
Class length is approximately 45 minutes–1 hour 15 minutes, depending on class size, skill level and project details. Classes begin and end at the published times.
