Make plans to make a special valentine as Indiana Artisan launches 2nd SaturDate, a new way to engage with some of the state’s exceptional artists. On the second Saturday of each month, Indiana Artisan Gifts & Gallery will host an interactive event from 1-5 p.m. in its store at 22 N. Rangeline Road in the Carmel Arts & Design District.
Indianapolis letterpress printer Evan Backstrom and Westfield marshmallow maker Becky Lane will be in the store on Feb. 8. Guests will be given all the supplies they need to print a letterpress valentine with Backstrom, and they will be able to sample Lane’s handcrafted, pure-bliss marshmallows. This is a free, drop-in event.
Experiencing art hands-on adds more enjoyment and another level of appreciation to any art enthusiast’s understanding of the skill and techniques needed to make exceptional art. 2nd SaturDate events will give people that opportunity every month in a variety of media.
