Create a bold and beautiful glass bird to bring color and personality to your garden! In this hands-on glass fusing class, you’ll design a large, custom bird that will be mounted on a three-prong stainless steel stake — perfect for planting in the ground or in a flower pot. We’ll even spray paint the stakes black to help prevent rust and ensure long-term outdoor display.
🐦 Project Details: Start with an 8" half-circle base Build out your bird’s head, tail, and wings using a variety of glass techniques.
Final piece will be fired in our kilns and adhered to the stake for outdoor display Please allow 3 weeks for firing, finishing, and mounting
🎨 What You’ll Learn:
How to cut and shape glass into curves and pointed forms
Use of colored sheet glass, glass stringers, powders, lace, dots, and marbles
Design techniques to create balance and movement in your bird’s body and wings
Tips on layering glass for strength and visual texture
How to choose and place decorative accents — many of which are handmade in our studio
✨ No experience necessary — perfect for beginners and returning glass artists alike!
💡 Additional full sheets of larger colored glass will be available for purchase if you'd like to go big or bold with your palette.
⏳ After the class, we’ll fire your project in our kilns and assemble it onto the garden stake. Finished birds will be ready for pickup in approximately 3 weeks.
