About this Event
Please join the NYU Stern Center for Business and Human Rights, the Center for Democracy and Technology, and American University's Center for Security Innovation and New Technology for a public event titled Mainstreaming Trust and Safety in Online Games.
Social media and online games share a number of trust and safety issues, but the communities focused on those spaces are siloed and rarely interact. As a result, they miss out on valuable opportunities to learn from a comparable sector on key topics like pro-social design and safety by design and let opportunities to influence policy go unseized. This conference will bring together experts from civil society, the gaming industry, government, and academia to discuss trust and safety issues in online games, compare best practices, and exchange knowledge.
There will be two panels taking place on September 29th between 9:30AM - 12:15PM. Speakers from industry, academia, and the policymaking community will explore the unique trust and safety challenges in online games, highlight emerging solutions, and consider how insights from adjacent fields like social media governance can inform more effective, inclusive practices.
We hope you can join us!
