Maine Iris Society Fall Auction

Auburn United Methodist Church, Park St, Auburn, ME | Auburn, ME
Volunteers, please come early (10 am) for set up. Plant donations are needed early because it takes time to get them in the auction order. Bring a picnic lunch to eat between set-up and the start of the auction.
Siberian Irises will be the iris feature of this auction. We encourage members with any named Siberians to take a few fans off the edge, or divide the whole plant, and pot up a plant or two in soilless medium (like Pro-Mix). This will alleviate worries some may have about jumping worms. Siberian roots cannot be allowed to dry out; our auction buyers have better success with potted divisions than with bare root plants (the way Siberians are shipped). More donors increases the plant diversity and lessens the burden on the few members who donate auction after auction. Bringing just one plant helps, and bringing more is even better!
This auction also features daylilies. Daylilies are a great way to add color to our gardens after the iris show is over. Shade gardeners may be able to look forward to a few hostas, too. Peonies are always sought after. The auction inventory depends on member donations.
A bargain table with some daylilies for $5 each will be available at the end of the bidding. Members with daylilies that are still worth growing but probably not able to get high prices at auction are perfect for the bargain sale which was met with great acclaim at our last two fall auctions. Bring as many of any bargain cultivar as you’d like but be sure each is labeled with its name.
