Who are we?

The MA Program in International and Intercultural Communication (MAIIC) at Royal Roads University offers students a comprehensive understanding of global communication dynamics. Students gain expertise in areas like global media, communication for social change, health communication, organizational communication, digital media and intercultural communication strategies, while developing the ability to analyze and engage with various communication systems.

Why should you meet our students?

Students in the MAIIC program are a dynamic group, bringing with them a wealth of professional experience and a broad range of perspectives. Hailing from diverse cultural backgrounds, they often have extensive experience in fields such as digital media, journalism, public relations, social impact, and business communication. MAIIC students are typically bilingual or multilingual, and many have lived, studied, and worked in multiple countries, offering unique insights into global and intercultural communication dynamics. Their diverse expertise equips them with a strong foundation in both traditional and digital communication strategies, while their international experiences give them the adaptability and cultural sensitivity needed to thrive in an interconnected world.

What are students looking to learn from you?

The MAIIC program aims to connect international students with the social impact sector in Victoria and BC, providing them with opportunities to build a professional network while honing their knowledge and skills. Several MAIIC students volunteer while doing their course work, and in the Fall of 2026, students will undertake a learning project with a social impact organization, where they will apply their expertise to develop and potentially implement a communication project that addresses the organization's needs. This is an opportunity for them to learn more about The Dock and its member organizations.
