Mahya Hamedi and Queralt Giralt blend Iranian roots, jazz, rock, and classical textures in a genre-defying piano-cello duo.

Mahya Hamedi is a vocalist, pianist, improviser, composer, and arranger based in New York City. Her genre-defying music bridges her Iranian roots with contemporary jazz, alternative rock, and classical soundscapes.

She began her career composing for theater, debuting at age 16 in Greece’s Olympia in Dion. At age 18 she conducted and performed her large-scale composition for Après Cela at Tehran’s Molavi Theater Hall.

Mahya’s authentic and versatile voice has taken her to prestigious venues and festivals across the United States, where she has performed her original music and shared the stage with artists such as Joel Ross, Alkinoos Ioannidis, Faraualla, Golnar Shahyar, Mahan Mirarab, and King Raam.

Queralt Giralt Soler is a cellist, singer, composer, and music educator. Her artistic journey began at ESMUC and Berklee College of Music. Since then, she’s performed both nationally and internationally,

Based between the U.S. and Catalunya, she performs regularly across both continents. She has collaborated with a wide range of celebrated artists, including Kenny Barron, Jacques Morelenbaum, Joe Lovano, Darol Anger, and the Latin Grammy-winning group Las Migas. Her performances have been heard in venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Detroit Jazz Festival, and numerous other stages and festivals throughout Europe and the U.S.
