We are excited to announce our first annual Mahjong Tournament:
🀄 The Mahjong Social: A Friendly Mahjong Tournament 🀄
Shuffle the tiles, sharpen your strategy, and bring your lucky charm—it's time to play, for charity! This tournament is benefitting Kanbe's Market where a portion of each table sale will be donated to further Kanbe's mission of providing reliable, high-quality, affordable fruits and vegetables within ½ mile of every home.
Kanbe’s Markets is a 501(c)3 non-profit on a mission to build a more inclusive food system by transforming food loss into food access. Our goal is to eliminate food insecurity while simultaneously reinvesting into our communities and reducing food waste.
Join us for an afternoon of friendly competition, great company, and just the right amount of bragging rights. Whether you're a seasoned player or simply love the thrill of the game, this tournament is designed for players who enjoy a little competition wrapped in a lot of fun. This tournament is sold by the table.
Your table ticket includes:
✨ (4) Entry tickets into the tournament
✨ Mahjong play and scoring throughout the event
✨ Light bites and (2) complimentary drink tickets with extra refreshments available for purchase
✨ Prizes for top finishers: Aguajong mat and tile set for our grand champion, and prizes for the final table players!
✨ A chance to claim the title of The Mahjong Social Cup Champion!
Expect laughter, strategy, a few dramatic tile reveals, and plenty of opportunities to connect with fellow Mahjong enthusiasts. Come ready to play, cheer each other on, and maybe leave with a trophy—and some newfound Mahjong glory.
• Each table needs to bring one complete mahjong set (tiles, racks, 2026 cards, and mat). Please let us know ASAP if your table needs anything.
• Check in begins at 1:00pm, and play begins at 2:00pm. Please give yourself ample time to prepare your table for play, get a drink with your complimentary drink tickets, make a plate of yummy bites. Everyone needs to be seated by 1:45pm to go over rules and any questions.
• Your table will play from 2:00-3:30pm. Scorecards will be provided. Simplified scoring will be used with the winner of each round receiving the value of the hand.
Seats are limited and expected to sell out. Reserve your spot today and let the tiles fall where they may!
