Got the basics of American Mahjong down? Time to put your skills to the test!

Join the Cleveland Mahjong Collective for a special evening where we finally put those pesky point values on your National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) card to use!

Don't worry—no real money will be used! Every player will receive a personal stack of playing chips at check-in to track points and handle table payouts in a supportive, low-stakes environment.

Check-in starts at 6 p.m. Mini-lesson (approx 15 minutes) begins at 6:15 and play starts promptly after.

• The Quick Lesson: We’ll kick things off with a short, easy briefing on how to calculate payouts for self-drawn wins, discard penalties, and Jokerless bonuses. (Note: This is a fun introduction to simple card-based scoring, NOT a lesson on tournament scoring!)
• The Play: Then, we get down to the tiles! You'll play one full round (One round = 4 games with each player being East one time) that will be used for scoring. Play after one full round can continue, but only the first round will be counted toward determining the table winner.
• Table Prizes: After our scoring round, the top chip-holder at every table takes home a specially curated Cleveland Mahjong prize!
• Grand Prize Raffle: Every single attendee gets entered into our Grand Prize Raffle featuring a complete American Mahjong tile set.

• Guaranteed seat, with tiles, mats and racks provided.
• 1 Signature Cocktail or 1 Glass of Wine from Meraki House.
• Not drinking alcohol? No problem! You can opt to swap your drink ticket for 3 EXTRA Grand Prize Raffle Tickets instead!
• Charcuterie and delectable accompaniments included. And as always, the Meraki House menu (flatbreads, charcuterie boards, pretzel bites, and small bites) will be available for purchase throughout the night.

Newer players are welcome, but should know the basics of the game (navigating the Charleston, calling discards, and reading the card). Your one and only Wendy of Cleveland Mahjong will be around to clarify rules, make suggestions, and answer questions.
