Looking to learn a new game, meet new friends, and have a ton of laughs along the way? Join us for Mahj 101 — our beginner-friendly Mahjong Night!
During this fun and relaxed evening you’ll learn the basics of American Mahjong, including:
• How to set up the tiles and racks
• The Charleston (aka the tile-trading dance 💃)
• Basic hands and how to read a Mahjong card
• Game flow and turn order
• How to call tiles like a pro — Pung, Kong, Mahj!
Light snacks will be available, with wine and beer available for purchase to keep the night social and relaxed. 🍷
No experience needed — just bring yourself and a willingness to learn something new!
And because we like to keep things light and fun… here are a few Mahjong truths we fully stand by:
• “Mahjong: where you come for the game and stay because you forgot how scoring works.”
• “I don’t always yell ‘Mahj!’… but when I do, it’s very loud.”
• “It’s not competitive… until someone steals your tile.”
• Mahjong friends don’t let friends discard jokers. 😄
