Rules of Engagement
1. Fish days will run from Wednesday May 1, 2024 through Friday June7, 2024.
2. Teams pick two days to fish. Teams can weigh two mahi each day for a total of four mahi and the two largest will be counted. So, if you catch your biggest mahi on day one and your second biggest on day two, those two will be counted. No mutilated mahi will be weighed. The winner will be decided by TOTAL weight of both fish. If only one fish is caught by a team, that fish will be weighed as that team's total. If the single fish is heavier than two combined fish of another team, the heavier weight will be declared the winner.
3. A captain may only register one vessel. Individuals may fish on other registered vessels for the tournament.
4. The Captain must have his vessel registered by 8PM on April 30, 2024. A fish day must be declared by 8PM the evening prior to your fish day. To declare your fishing day text Jimmy at (540) 535-8426 with the following information, your boat name & number, marina or boat landing, and the sound(s) you are leaving and returning.
5. You may undeclare a fish day by calling Jimmy by 6AM from a personal cell phone, NOT a SAT (satellite) phone.
6. On your declared fish day(s) the boat cannot leave the dock prior to midnight and lines in the water no earlier than 5AM.
7. Check-In/Weigh-In: The vessel must be back to its dock of origin by 6PM. To check in send a pic of a fish and boat number AT THE DOCK NLT (no later than) 6:15PM. Fish must be weighed by 11AM THE FOLLOWING DAY at the Savannah Boat House. Fish can also be weighed the same day the team fishes. Only one team member must be present to weigh in and all weigh-ins will be filmed and uploaded to the Facebook page.
8. In the event of a tie the vessel with the earliest check in time will be declared the winner.
9. You may leave from any port .
10. Fish must be caught by rod and reel. No spear guns or harpoons allowed. No electric reels are permitted for trolling any hooked bait or lure.
11. A photo must be taken of the mahi you want to weigh-in with your tournament boat number before you ice it down. The photo must contain at least one member of the crew displaying the fish and boat number.
12. A photo of the boat's GPS screen must be taken prior to leaving the inlet, and submitted as part of your check-in. Your GPS screen must include the following information: time, date, vessel's coordinates.
13. You may substitute a boat one time if there is a mechanical issue, or other unforeseen circumstance.
14. Boats are not allowed to come together for any reason during tournament fishing hours.
15. The vessel must make it to the dock under its own power, without assistance from any other vessel.
16. All registered boats and participants must comply with GA state and federal regulations including but not limited to fishing license, permits, boat registrations, safety equipment and adequate liability insurance is required.
17. No culling of dead mahi allowed. This will result in immediate disqualification.
18. Teams are subject to random boat inspections on any declared fish day.
19. Teams are required to save their GPS track from their declared fish day until the tournament is over.
20. Teams are not permitted to alter or attempt to alter the weight of their fish.
21. Any protest must be submitted as a formal written complaint, including details such as time, date, location and any other pertinent information, to Knot Lucky accompanied by a $500 cash only fee. If the protest is upheld the fee will be returned. If the protest is not upheld Knot Lucky retains the fee. Protest must be delivered no later than 30 minutes after the scale closes (9:30PM) for the fish day you are protesting.
22. All decisions made by the committee are final.
23. This is a Captains Choice Tournament. Each Captain is solely responsible for the safety of his or her vessel, crew, and guest at all times during the tournament. Captains are responsible for heeding any weather warnings and severe weather warnings that may impact his or her two fish days as safety is the number one priority. It is up to each Captain to decide whether his or her vessel is seaworthy for the sea conditions both fishing days. Be sure to submit a float plan to someone not on the vessel.
24. Any violation of these rules are subject to disqualification from the tournament, and forfeiture of all winnings and entry fees.
25. There are no refunds after registration is closed.
