For youth who want golden sunsets, campfires, and a real connection with animals.
As the heat of summer fades and the sky turns soft with evening light, Magnolia Equine Sanctuary opens its gates for two peaceful nights designed especially for youth ages 9–14. This is a chance to step away from screens, slow down, and experience the quiet beauty of the sanctuary as crickets begin to sing, the horses settle into their paddocks, and the farm drifts into sunset.
Magnolia Summer Evening Experience 2026 takes place August 7th and 8th from 4:00 PM–8:00 PM. Each evening begins with introductions and time meeting the rescued horses, goats, and cows who call the sanctuary their forever home.
As the day winds down, participants join the calming rhythm of evening care...feeding grain, filling water troughs, preparing hay nets, and helping the animals settle in for the night. There’s something grounding about being part of this routine as the world slows around you.
Throughout the experience, youth will spend time grooming horses as they eat, take part in guided leading demonstrations with horses who are comfortable and willing that day, and enjoy relaxed moments in the paddocks observing and connecting at the animals’ pace. A strong focus is placed on learning how to read animal body language, respect boundaries, and understand that trust is earned through patience and care...not assumed.
Alongside these moments of connection is a deeper purpose: helping raise a generation that leads with empathy and recognizes the importance of standing against animal cruelty in all forms.
On the first evening, participants will create frozen enrichment treats using apples, carrots, and apple juice. On the second evening, they’ll have the special opportunity to share those treats with the horses after evening feed.
Goat pen time brings laughter and lightness as the sun lowers, followed by a slow wind-down into packed dinner under the open sky. Each evening closes around a campfire and smores.
More than anything, this is a chance to slow down, reconnect, and experience the peace that comes from being outside, unplugged, and surrounded by animals who live fully in the moment.
