The 445 Club presents . . . Magnepan LRS Planar Magnetic SpeakersFollowing on from the success of our last event with Watcher HiFi, we are pleased to announce another exclusive event on Tuesday the 27th of January 2026.
The US made Magenpan LRS has reached almost legendary status, with many suggesting that they’re the best speaker under £10k and all other box speakers pale into insignificance.
There’s no doubt that planar magnetic speakers provide a different sound signature but just how good are they?
Everyone should get to hear a planar magnetic speaker, and given the price point of the LRS the opportunity to audition it in a comfortable and unbiased environment is not to be missed.
Tonight we’ve created a very special event where we will showcase the LRS, Magnepan’s entry level model, and evaluate its strengths and weaknesses, but with an unusual twist.
The bass response of the LRS is its Achilles heel so we’ve teamed up with Jason Darke of ARKE Audio and his KRATOS bass enhancers to see if we can elevate the LRS even further.
The event is to be held at Outram Fields, 250 Twentywell Lane, Bradway, Sheffield S17 4QF.
A stunning venue which sits on the outskirts of both Sheffield and the Peaks and is beautifully appointed and furnished, with ample free parking.
Numbers are strictly limited to 20 persons and entry to the event will be FREE.
Tea, coffee and nibbles will be provided throughout the evening.

The 445 Club……..
Set up about eight years ago, our aim was to arrange a small gathering of like-minded hi-fi and music enthusiasts to regularly get together with examples of vintage and modern hi-fi components, music and chat. As an extension of the club format, we are able to present guest speakers from the audio industry to give us a personal insight into their respective journeys. Our current stunning location in Sheffield allows us to showcase products closer to a home environment than an audio show.
On occasion we may charge a small admission fee for events we organise, this fee covers the costs incurred by the 445 Club only and not the guest speakers. A portion of the fee generated will be given to chosen charities.
