THE SIMPLE HUMAN KINDNESS SHOW – A DIFFERENT KIND OF BENEFIT!
HOSTED BY MAE MARTIN!
Join us at Lula Lounge for a night of music, laughter, and giving back! This event is all about spreading kindness and generosity in a fun and unique way. Get ready to enjoy live performances, delicious food, and a chance to make a difference in the community. Let's come together to show that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a big impact. Don't miss out on this special evening filled with beautiful new music and plenty of surprises!
Toronto-born comic Mae Martin, an accomplished stand-up, screenwriter, and actor (“Feel Good” – Channel 4/Netflix), will host and perform at this new music fundraiser for charity: Birdsong New Music Foundation along with indie music from the charity artists: Robert Priest, Allan Kinney, Ashley Bell, Dustin Harder, Robin Benedict, Anthony Jordan, D.M. LaFortune, and Jhmal King.
Sought-after Juno winner, soloist Russell Braun will sing with his luminous voice accompanied by pianist Carolyn Maule in a 2.5-hour musical journey to stir your heart and soul. The event title is inspired by a song written by Robert Priest and Allan Booth called “Simple Human Kindness” produced by the charity to bring more awareness to our world about people who live with mental illness. This evening is also the launch of this single produced by Greg Kavanaugh and video directed by Peter Lynch.
Mae Martin shares:
“I am so excited to host, perform and be part of this charity’s fundraiser because what they do is so very close to my heart. This event is an effort to create a show that brings a message of kindness home through indie music. Music helps me cope and creates the hope that together we can help to stop the stigma and discrimination against people who have mental illness.”
“I believe that if there was less stigma in the world, one of my closest soul-mate friends musician David Martin would be on stage with me. We both have the same name but are not related but he was my brother; always with a guitar strapped to his back; music was his religion, he was unique!”

MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE EVENT AND CHARITY:
Birdsong New Music Foundation was founded to honour the memory of unknown musician John David Martin-Konopacki (1987-2017). Due to a sense of hopelessness and feeling stigmatized because of his struggle with mental illness (bipolar and substance use disorder) David exited at age 30. Birdsong founded by his mother Margaret, is dedicated to helping others like him find a way out of the darkness of life with mental illness by using music as a path to wellness.
