You fancy me mad. Madmen know nothing. But you should see us!

This concert marks the UK première of Willem Jeths’ monodrama opera: The Tell-tale Heart, based on the dramatic poem by Edgar Allan Poe, an orchestrated for 14 musicians by Fergus McAlpine. This version redefines the capabilities of chamber orchestra playing, creating an immersive performance that exposes the music's soul to the listener.

This is preceded by the awe-inspiring yet historically mysterious “Enigma Variations” by Edward Elgar. Also reduced by Fergus McAlpine, this version will be a unique performance of one of the UK’s most famous pieces of classical music, and in the town where Elgar was so closely connected.

Madhouse Orchestra is an international festival ensemble of world-class professional musicians, who play in orchestras around the UK and Europe. Each musician has a unique playing style and musical personality, but as a symphonic force they prove that music is the true international language.

Join conductor Fergus McAlpine, soprano Katherine Weber McAlpine, and Madhouse for an unforgettable evening of chamber-symphonic music & opera; guaranteed to heighten the senses of any listener.
