Questo workshop intensivo di 4 ore accompagnerà i partecipanti nella trasformazione della texture dei punti in un linguaggio personale e creativo.La maglia, con la sua trama intrecciata di punti, è un tessuto vivo che racconta storie attraverso le sue forme. Nel corso dell’incontro si imparerà a “leggerla”, osservando la struttura dei punti per comprenderla, ripercorrerla e ricostruirla attraverso il ricamo.Se ogni capo ha una storia, il ricamo rappresenta una forma di scrittura che permette di raccontarne un nuovo capitolo, personalizzando e valorizzando il lavoro a maglia tramite dettagli unici e carichi di significato.

I partecipanti scopriranno come riconoscere e interpretare le forme dei punti di maglia per intrecciare nuove storie con il filo. Verranno illustrate le tecniche base per ricamare su superfici morbide e irregolari, esplorando il dialogo tra il gesto di lavorare a maglia e quello di decorarla, con l’obiettivo di creare un’intima connessione tra materia e filo.

Destinatari: Il corso è aperto a tutti: non è richiesta – anche se apprezzata e utile – esperienza pregressa né nel ricamo né nella maglieria, ma interesse a scoprire l’espressività nascosta nei punti intrecciati e a imparare a raccontare storie nuove tramite il ricamo.

Al termine del workshop, le creazioni verranno inserite nello swap market del festival Madeback (15-17 ottobre), presso il Living Lab – TooCoolToGoWasted (Dipartimento di Design), Ed. B4, Campus Bovisa Durando – Politecnico di Milano, dove potranno essere scambiate o adottate dai visitatori, trovando nuova vita.

Stitchwriting (Embroidery on Knitted Fabric Workshop)

Can you read knitwear? It’s time to learn how to write it.

This intensive 4-hour workshop will guide participants in transforming stitch textures into a personal and creative language. Knitted fabric, with its intertwined stitches, is a living material that tells stories through its forms. During the session, participants will learn to “read” it—observing the structure of the stitches to understand, trace, and reconstruct it through embroidery.

If every garment has a story, embroidery represents a form of writing that allows a new chapter to be told, personalizing and enhancing the knitted work through unique, meaningful details.

Participants will discover how to recognize and interpret the shapes of knit stitches to weave new stories with thread. Basic techniques for embroidering on soft and irregular surfaces will be demonstrated, exploring the dialogue between the act of knitting and that of decorating, with the aim of creating an intimate connection between material and thread.

Audience: The workshop is open to everyone. No prior experience in embroidery or knitting is required—though appreciated and useful—but an interest in discovering the hidden expressiveness in intertwined stitches and learning to tell new stories through embroidery is essential.

At the end of the workshop, the creations will be included in the Madeback festival swap market (October 15–17) at the Living Lab – TooCoolToGoWasted (Department of Design), Ed. B4, Campus Bovisa Durando – Politecnico di Milano, where they can be exchanged or adopted by visitors, giving the pieces a new life.
