We’re excited to be launching ‘Made Outside’ a new series of creative workshops for women in the GroWild woodland. These sessions are practical, hands-on workshops focused on traditional skills, natural materials and outdoor making, including botanical printing, indigo dyeing and willow weaving.
The Printed Leaf Workshop: Woodland leaves, natural inks and botanical printing in the GroWild woodland.
Spend a morning gathering leaves, exploring natural pigments and creating your own collection of botanical prints using simple, traditional printing techniques.
Working alongside a small group of women, you’ll be guided through the process by Rachel Burchell, a practising artist whose work explores natural materials, pigments and botanical processes. Rachel will share examples, techniques and guidance throughout the session, supporting you to experiment and create your own finished pieces.
Date: Sunday 5th July
Time: 10am–1pm
Cost: £39 includes refreshments and homemade bakes
The Indigo Dye Workshop: Natural indigo, folded fabric and traditional resist dyeing in the GroWild woodland.
Spend a day exploring indigo dyeing and Shibori-inspired resist techniques, creating your own patterned scarf or tote bag to take home.
Set within the woodland, this is a hands-on workshop with most of the day spent folding, clamping, dyeing and experimenting. You’ll learn how folds, clamps and resist techniques can be used to create striking patterns with natural indigo dye, with each fold and placement influencing the final result.
Date: Sunday 26th July
Time: 10am–5pm
Cost: £49 includes refreshments and homemade bakes
The Woven Willow Workshop: Natural willow, traditional basketry techniques and outdoor making in the GroWild woodland.
Spend a morning learning how to weave your own garden bird feeder using natural willow and traditional basketry techniques.
This is a hands-on workshop with most of the morning spent weaving, shaping and making. You’ll learn how to work with willow, exploring how to bend, secure and build the structure as your bird feeder begins to take form.
Date: Sunday 9th August
Time: 9.45am–1pm
Cost: £39 includes refreshments and homemade bakes
Special Offer: Buy a ticket for all three workshops for £110 - saving £17
