About this Event
Made in Bangladesh Screening
Come join us for a screening of the 2019 film Made in Bangladesh at 25 Liberty St, Toronto, Ontario. Take a moment to join us in reflection as we critically engage with the human realities of globalized fast fashion production.
Exceptionally directed by Rubaiyat Hossain, we follow a story of 23 year old garment factory worker, Shimu, as she fights for the rights of herself and her coworkers. Engaging with real stories and experiences gives us the opportunity to ground ourselves in our privilege and reflect on how consumption reverberates in its impact.
We are grateful to partner with Coffee by Grounded and Momoh Bakes for snacks and refreshments for the evening. The audience will also have an incredible opportunity to speak with Sabrin Saultana, the founder and creative director of NOKSHI, a sustainable fashion brand that prioritizes ethically sourcing dead stock materials directly from Bangladesh.
As part of Aadaab’s commitment to giving back to our community with each event, don’t forget to bring clothes to donate to our clothing drive. All clothes will be donated to the Butterfly Boutique, a community facing, free of charge clothing shop, run by Native Child and Family Services.
