Join Mad Swirl this 1st Wednesday of January (aka 01.07.26) when kick off the new year by doin’ the open mic voodoo that we do at Barbara’s Pavillion!We will get things started with some musical grooves brought to you by our long standing house band Swirve! (Chris & Tamitha Curiel, Gerard Bendiks). Then, starting at 8pm, hosts Johnny O & MH Clay will set the stage for some open mic madness!
This month we will be featuring Tim Cloward! Here’s a bit about Tim:
Tim Cloward is a writer/educator who lives in Dallas, Texas. He holds a Ph.D. in Aesthetic Studies from the University of Texas at Dallas. The founder of the poetry/performance troupe Dancing Tongue, he has also worked with Poetry Circus and Question Authority, both acclaimed multi-disciplinary performance ensembles. His work has been seen in a number of publications and he, along with Patty Turner and David Davis, published the influential chapbook Three Dallas Poets in 1986. A prominent arts organizer, he is the former board chair of the North Texas Literary organization, WordSpace. The first volume of his The City That Killed the President: A Cultural History of Dallas was published by Deep Vellum Press in Sept. 2023.
