It's that time of year again - The annual Macmillan Cancer Support Coffee Morning, a day when our team here at Butterfield's do our bit to support those living with cancer. On Friday September the 27th between 10am and 12 noon we will be opening the doors of our tea rooms at our Swinton head office to welcome guests with coffee and cakes galore. There will be an opportunity to partake in various fund raising activities, including our raffle and you will also have the opportunity to meet our team who will be available to chat and answer any questions you may have about any of the services we offer.
Macmillan Cancer Support is a charity we, as a company have been supporting for many years. Their fundraising as an organisation raised a staggering 18 million pounds in 2023 alone, which enabled them to fund posts for Macmillan doctors, nurses and specialists both in hospitals, hospice settings and in the community. It funds their information service, which is vital to many people when they receive the devastating news that they have cancer. They also give various grants to those living with cancer who need help financially, along with many many more worthy services and facilities. We are proud to be able to do our bit to enable them to continue their fine work.
There are over 200 types of cancer and every 90 seconds someone is given the news of their diagnosis. In the UK alone there are more than 385,000 new cases of cancer each year.
Through our work and in our own personal lives, we talk to people who have received a cancer diagnosis themselves, and also families who have lost a loved one due to this horrific illness. The trauma of being told you have cancer is like no other news you will ever receive, it pulls the rug from under your feet and brings your world crashing down, the fear and worry is beyond words. Some cancer patients feel helpless, lost and alone, others are able to find an amazing hidden strength to fight with all their might, each person deals with it differently and perhaps many of us cannot comprehend how we would deal with this situation until it happens to us.
This is where the work of Macmillan is vital, working in conjunction with other NHS partners they give patients the treatment, support, information and guidence they need.
So please please help us to help them... come along to our coffee morning and give anything you can to assist our fundraising. ☕🍰
