Mackenzie O'Brien took up songwriting as a teen and gained quick momentum when one of her early songs was picked up by a Nashville radio program featuring Nashville's up and coming writers. While continuing to write and perform, she entered a national songwriting contest sponsored by Merf Music Nashville and was chosen as the contest winner out of over 3000 entered songwriters. This propelled her into writing rooms with many of Nashville's most accomplished writers and into writing rooms with many up and comers like herself. Mackenzie has gained a reputation as a talented melody driven writer! Mackenzie has co-written songs with multiple BMI writers of the year as well as with writers that have had number one hits to their credit and/or been Grammy nominated. Mackenzie has also written songs cut by other artists and had songs pitched to major artists!
Mackenzie currently travels back and forth to Nashville where she writes, records, and sometimes performs. Mackenzie's original songs on Spotify have combined for over one million streams and were streamed in over 150 countries last year! She looks forward to releasing her third album in early summer this year!
