Machine Sewing 101

In Machine Sewing 101, we will learn the basics of threading, tension, stitch length, and machine maintenance. We will also discuss how to choose the right fabric, thread, and needles for your future projects. And of course, we will practice sewing on a variety of fabrics! If bringing your own sewing machine, please indicate this at enrollment and list brand and model number if you can find it easily.

Students will have access to supplies dyed from materials sourced right here at the Art Farm. This class is part of our Art + Agriculture Series. This class is taught by artist-in-residence alumni, Bellingham-based Jane Burleigh. Jane is a textile artist with a background in industrial sewing. We're thrilled to host Jane for this class!

Registration: Please register early if you are able, as it helps us to assure that classes meet their minimums in order to run! If you register more than three weeks before this class begins, a 20% early bird discount will automatically be applied to your ticket at checkout.

Sustaining tickets help us continue to invest in programming. Full price tickets cover the costs associated with running classes. Accessibility tickets are priced below what it costs for us to run a class. If the cost of a full price ticket is a hardship, we encourage you to purchase a sliding scale ticket. If you can pay the full price or sustaining price, please choose that option so we can keep providing arts programming to the community.
