The cool whispers of approaching winter are subtly present, reminding us to gather the remnants of summer's bounty, preserve fruits and vegetables, brew tonics, and create herbal remedies—a tapestry of preparations for the colder months ahead. In the days of old, this time marked the culmination of the harvest season, a moment to express gratitude for the abundance bestowed upon us. As the autumn equinox arrives, fields stand nearly empty, their treasures carefully stored for the impending winter. Mabon, the mid-harvest festival, invites us to honour the changing seasons and celebrate the second harvest.
Around March 21 Mabon is a time to give thanks for the blessings we've received, be it the richness of our crops or other forms of abundance. It becomes a season of plenty, gratitude, and the sharing of our blessings with those less fortunate. This moment, bathed in equal hours of light and dark, becomes a time of balance and reflection. Mabon, affecting individuals in diverse ways, allows for the acknowledgment of both the darker aspects of the goddess and the thankfulness for the abundance witnessed during the harvest season. Mabon is a traditional dance of balance, a season where light and darkness coexist harmoniously, mirroring the delicate equilibrium found in nature's rhythms.
