SESSION DESCRIPTION:

Visual Art has the power to inform and inspire, provoking empathy, strengthening community, and broadening understanding of complex concepts and issues. In this session we will use a variety of strategies that will help us to examine and interpret meaning in a diverse selection of artwork.

In the gallery spaces, we will implement some of the strategies as we use our bodies, minds and spirits to uncover the power of art has to transform our thinking. This session is a great fit for Middle/Senior Years ELA, Social Studies, Visual Art, and Drama. Resources will be provided.

Please arrive between 8:30 - 9:00 AM to the Winnipeg Art Gallery entrance at 300 Memorial Blvd. (The old entrance with the circular lights above!) These doors will be locked shortly after 9:00 AM. WAG-Qaumajuq (the new entrance) is closed to the public until 11:00 AM.

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR:

Allison Moore teaches Art, Theatre Production, ELA and Canadian History with the Pembina Trails School Division. She is a practicing artist who has held a wide variety of art education positions over the years including working as an artist in the schools, an art educator at the Winnipeg Art Gallery and a divisional Art Consultant.
