Our season finale performance! Join us for a concert of violin masterworks that spans centuries in a single afternoon. MUSICIANS
Jeffrey Myers (violin)
Mariko Kaneda (piano)
PROGRAM
Violin Sonata in E-flat major Op. 12, no. 3 by Ludwig van Beethoven
Violin Sonata “La Folia” by Arcangelo Corelli, arranged by Fritz Kreisler
Violin Sonata in E-flat major, Op. 18 by Richard Strauss
From the hypnotic variations of Arcangelo Corelli's La Folia to the bold, conversational energy of Beethoven's Third Violin Sonata, the program is an intimate journey through contrast, virtuosity, and expressive depth, and culminates in the sweeping passion and rich lyricism of Richard Strauss’s Violin Sonata.
Philadelphia-based Columbus native Jeffrey Myers is first violinist of Calidore String Quartet and Artistic Director of Sunday at Central. Mariko Kaneda serves on the faculty of Ohio Wesleyan University.
Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis, and free parking is provided. The program is recommended for ages nine and older. Sunday at Central concerts are recorded and later shared on the organization’s YouTube channel.
Founded in 1994, Sunday at Central is a nonprofit chamber music series dedicated to presenting intimate performances by internationally recognized professional musicians. The series is supported in part by the Margaret and Ray Speer Fund of The Columbus Foundation, the Johnstone Fund for New Music, The Loft Violin Shop, the Ingram-White Castle Foundation, the Greater Columbus Arts Council, and The Columbus Foundation’s Community Arts Fund, with additional support from the Ohio Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.
