This peaceful community gathering is a visibility event focused on unity, dignity, and compassion for all people. We are coming together to affirm the worth of immigrant communities, stand against dehumanizing language in public discourse, and show that our city values respect, inclusion, and solidarity.
We will not tolerate the hate speech and exclusive policies spoken and enacted by our president and other political leaders, such as those demonstrated by President Trump in his remarks on December 1 (https://youtube.com/shorts/Uv9cVC3Lzpo?si=7zCfpkr_bphHeGAQ).
We will be gathering at Monument Terrace from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
This is a peaceful, respectful, event with no scheduled speeches. The purpose is simply to stand together, hold signs, and create a visible reminder that our community supports treating all people with dignity.
What we’ll be doing:
• Holding signs that express unity, inclusion, and support for immigrant neighbors
• Standing or spreading out peacefully at Monument Terrace
• Encouraging passing cars to honk in solidarity
• Talking with one another and building community connection
• Participating in a calm but energetic visibility event
Chants or vocal expressions are optional and only if participants initiate them respectfully. The primary focus of this event is a peaceful presence, not a demonstration of loudness.
What to bring:
• Homemade signs (bright, noticeable, supportive)
• Water
• Weather-appropriate clothing
• A kind, respectful attitude
Safety and Expectations:
• This is a peaceful event — no confrontations or arguments
• All interactions must remain respectful
• Stay on the sidewalks and keep entrances clear
• Leave immediately if you feel unsafe or uncomfortable
• Participants should use their own discretion about bringing minors; older teens may participate, but this event is not specifically geared toward children
Even if only one or two people attend, the presence still matters
Our hope is to create a visible, positive community expression that affirms human dignity and reminds our city that every person deserves respect.
