Lymm Parish Council is pleased to announce that the annual Remembrance Day Parade will take place on Sunday 9th November.
Remembrance Sunday is an important part of Lymm’s calendar and is an opportunity to remember the service and sacrifice of all those that have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life. This includes members of the Armed Forces and their families from Britain and the Commonwealth, along with the vital role played by the emergency services as well as those who have lost their lives as a result of conflict or terrorism. In Lymm, this also includes the eleven students from Lymm Grammar School who lost their lives in during the First World War. Their memorial can be found on Limefield Avenue where a wreath will also be placed.
The Remembrance Day Parade will assemble along Brookfield Road between Eagle Brow and Church Road (opposite Lakeside) from 9am, on the section of Brookfield Road by Lymm Lawn Tennis Club.
Uniformed groups and other participants will proceed with the march at 9.30am along Church Road arriving at St Mary’s Church in time for a 10am civic service. All are welcome to spectate along the parade route and to join the church service.
The wreath laying and the observation of silence will take place at 11am in the grounds of St Mary’s. The parade will reassemble and march back along the same route at around 11.20am, dispersing from Brookfield Road.
Road closures will be in place from 9am however Eagle Brow and Rectory Lane will remain open to vehicles throughout the parade and service.
