LWN Sept Event - Forest Bathing 9/17
Schedule
Wed Sep 17 2025 at 05:00 pm to 07:00 pm
UTC-05:00Location
Friends of Lawrence Hidden Valley | Lawrence, KS
We begin with a 20 minute guided meditation, then slowly explore the woods, creek, and creatures with mindfulness and bodyfulness activities, and conclude with tea that I've locally harvested. There are several opportunities to share and connect through Listening circles. We walk less than 1/2 mile. This structured sequence has been well-researched to reduce cortisol and stress, increase creativity, and reduce symptoms of anxiety, ADHD, and more. For most people, guided intentional connection with nature is enlightening and restorative.
“Forest Therapy is a research-based framework for supporting healing and wellness through immersion in forests and other natural environments. Forest Therapy is inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-Yoku, ‘forest bathing.’ Studies have demonstrated a wide array of health benefits, especially in the cardiovascular and immune systems, and improving mood and cognition. We build on those benefits and look beyond, to what happens when people remember that we are a part of nature, not separate from it, and are related to all other beings in fundamental ways." ~Association of Nature and Forest Therapy
This is an amazing way to feel alive!
