Luxe CT: Velvet Mills to Modern Runways
Inspired by the region’s historic velvet industry, the exhibition traces textile traditions from the precolonial period to today, highlighting how craftsmanship, industry, and design have shaped ideas of luxury over time.
In partnership with Historic Stonington, Mashantucket Pequot Museum & Research Center, Mystic Seaport Museum, and Studio Art Quilt Associates, CT Region, the exhibition features historic and contemporary beadwork, embroidery, quilts, velvet, and fashion drawn from both loans and MMoA’s collection.
Luxe CT examines how luxury is defined through labor, immigration, identity, and innovation, while also showcasing designers with Connecticut ties, including Xarea Lockhart, Toriana Sauro, Christian Siriano, and Peter Som.
On view: June 26–October 11, 2026
