Lux Mambo—Austin’s premiere salsa performance company—is auditioning for the 2026 season.Lux is known for exciting performances, strong musicality, and crowd-pleasing signature tricks. Behind the scenes, Lux Mambo is equally known for its team culture and collaborative rehearsal environment.
As we move into 2026, we’re keeping the vibes Lux Mambo is loved for while leveling up: refining our focus, tightening execution, and continuing to grow as a performance company striving for excellence.

WHO SHOULD AUDITION
This audition is for dancers who:
• Want to perform and take the stage regularly
• Care about technique, musicality, and moving as a unified group
• Are excited by rehearsal, repetition, and refining details over time

EXPERIENCE & LEVEL GUIDANCE
Lux Mambo is best suited for dancers with a solid foundation in salsa. As a general guideline, auditioning dancers typically have AT LEAST:
• 6–12 months of consistent salsa training, or
• 30+ hours of structured salsa classes
Most Lux Mambo dancers identify as intermediate level or above. Dancers with strong prior training in other dance styles (ballet, contemporary, jazz, ballroom, etc.) may also be considered, even if their salsa experience is more limited, provided they’re comfortable learning choreography and working within salsa technique and musical structure.

ABOUT TRICKS
Lux Mambo is known for incorporating tricks into our routines; they add excitement, showmanship, and musical impact. With the right coaching and pacing, most dancers can learn them. That said:
• Tricks are not mandatory
• No one is forced into anything uncomfortable
• Modifications are always available
• Safety and support come first

Lux Mambo is about showing up with intention, supporting one another, and creating performances that feel powerful, polished, and exciting — for both the dancers and the audience.
Spots are limited, and not all dancers who audition will be invited.
