What is Lupercalia?
Lupercalia was an ancient Roman festival held every year on February 15 that aimed to purify the city and encourage the health and fertility of its residents.
Over two days, discover how these early Roman traditions may have influenced today’s Valentine’s Day. We’ll be offering a range of family‑friendly activities inspired by Roman life, along with the chance to handle real archaeological objects in our beautifully decorated Roman dining room, warmed by our working hypocaust system.
What to Expect:
• Roman potion‑making and charm‑crafting
• Explore the wonders of ancient herbal lore
• Lively story-extracts around the fire to hear about the magical story of Cupid and Psyche
Drop in, no booking required.
Normal admission applies.
