About the performers:
After four years of chamber music training at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Erola Masqué and Aimee Taranni embark on their first recording project, exploring works by underperformed composers and seeking new audiences to experience music rooted in folk traditions.
They have studied as a duo and trio under Caroline Palmer and Sam Armstrong and have participated in masterclasses with David Dolan and the Endellion Quartet.
Erola Masqué, violin
Born in 2002 in Vic, Spain, Erola began her musical studies at age seven with Coloma Bertran and Quim Térmens at the Vic Professional Conservatory. In 2020, she was admitted to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London with Stephanie Gonley, where she earned a First-Class bachelor’s degree with Honours. She is currently pursuing a master’s at Guildhall with Krzysztof Smietana and studies historical violin with Pavlo Beznosiuk and chamber music with Krysia Osostowicz, Jacqueline Ross, Caroline Palmer, Evan Rothstein, and Adrian Brendel.
She has received guidance from members of the Endellion, Quiroga, and Casals Quartets and is a member of the Quartet Calders. In 2024, she participated in the Resonances Academy in Ciney, Belgium, with Philippe GraMin and David Quiggle.
Erola has performed recitals and concerts as a soloist across Spain, the UK, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Poland, and Portugal, including Atlàntida de Vic, the Moments Musicals cycle in Vic, Pianíssim in Torredembarra, Villa Margarita Music Fest in Arbúcies, the Festival of Religious Music in Vic, Pyrenees Classical Music Festival, and concerts in London and Cambridge. In 2023, she debuted in Cambridge with the Horizons String Orchestra, performing Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and Piazzolla’s Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas.
She has participated in numerous international masterclasses and courses, studying with Mark Gothony, Yair Kless, Boris Brovskyn, Esther HaMner, Boris Kuschnir, Dalibor Karvay, and Dora Schwarzberg. Since 2019, she combines performance with teaching in schools and privately with Pelican Music Company and DEA Academy, also giving masterclasses to young musicians.
