Luncheon, Annual Meeting & "Momcat" Kelly
Join us for a delightful afternoon at The War Memorial on Fri, Jan 17, 2025 for our Annual meeting and inspiring presentation by Kelly "Momcat" Konieczki. The meeting and presentation are preceeded by an optional luncheon by advance reservation only.
At this event, you'll have the opportunity to connect with other gardening enthusiasts and learn more about local gardening.
Join us at 11:30am for check-in, shopping and socializing.
Our noon luncheon menu features a Chicken Piccata entree. There is a gluten free and vegetarian option of Mushroom Truffle Risotto. Member price is $45; non-member price is $50. Luncheon reservations close on January 7, 2024. Purchase of lunch also includes attendance at the meeting and program. (No need to sign up for the meeting/ program as well.) - NOTE please select entree after payment
The business meeting commences at 1:00 pm with the election of board members and officers, a review of the year, and the announcement of the 2025 Trial Garden theme.
Renew your own sense of wonder in the amazing hidden life in your own backyard garden, At 1:30 pm Kelly “Momcat” Konieczki shares her journey to become a “citizen scientist.” A young mom, she started with her daughter’s curiosity for bugs as a way to cope with the upending of life that came with Covid. Kelly embarked on a creative course of noticing nature and has come to be an inspiration to all those around her. See how this brings discovery and awe into everyday life.

Kelly “Momcat” Konieczki is an outdoor educator who is passionate about pollinators and environmental stewardship. She does volunteer work and outreach as Detroit Butterfly Nursery and is the Community Science Chair for Wild Ones Wayne County Chapter. She also serves on Grosse Pointe Park’s Beautification Commission and leads the Mayors’ Monarch Pledge, a national initiative that helps guide cities toward being more pollinator-friendly. Kelly has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Michigan State University and completed the MSU Conservation Steward program in 2023. She considers herself a lifelong learner, combining her love of art and photography to help people connect with nature and tune into the endless relationships within the natural world.
