Join historian and researcher Bipasha Bhattacharyya as she explores racism in interwar medical archives through the John Orr correspondence
About this Event

Join us for this bite-sized lunchtime talk exploring the history of medicine and medical education.

Historian and researcher Bipasha Bhattacharyya will examine stories of exclusion and discrimination in interwar medical education through the correspondence of Dr John Orr, Dean of the Extramural School of Medicine of the Royal Colleges in Edinburgh from 1924 to 1945. Drawing on application records, reports, and job-seeking letters, this talk uncovers experiences of disenfranchisement across international medical networks, from the United States to the Austro-German world, and highlights the histories of medical careers that never came to be.

Talks will last approximately 30 minutes and tea and coffee will be available for ticket holders.
