Join the curatorial team behind an upcoming exhibition about the Alaska Highway (ALCAN) for a hands-on activity inspired by the Watson Lake Sign Post Forest. First created in 1942 by a homesick soldier working on highway construction, the Sign Post Forest has grown into a collection of thousands of signs from travelers around the world. Share stories from your own Alaska Highway journey, then create a sign that reflects the distance you traveled to reach Alaska. Take your sign home or leave it with the curatorial team to become part of the Anchorage Museum’s recreation of the Sign Post Forest in the exhibition. Free. No registration required. 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Thursday, July 23 & 30, Museum Lawn Image: Courtesy of Mike Conti.
