Webinar: Creating Quality Expanded Learning Programs that Promote Student Success in School and Beyond
Parents work 2,000 hours a year; our students are in school for only 1,000 of those hours, leaving out-of-school time half of K-12 education! California's Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) is a historic, unprecedented opportunity to close the glaring opportunity gap, advance learning, and synergize communities in the out-of-school time.
It is an exciting time for districts to take risks to innovate, experiment, and re-imagine expanded learning. Nevertheless, supporting 9 hour days and 30 intersession days, as required by ELO-P, is a tremendous undertaking, almost like "building a school outside school".
In this webinar, we are thrilled to have an esteemed panel of ELO-P leaders from districts all across California, including:
- Cherie Gann from Mt. Diablo (Contra Costa County)
- Michele Reid from Visalia USD (Tulare County)
- Dr. Jerry Block from Simi Valley USD (Ventura County)
- Esther Garcia from Rowland USD (LA County)
- Ofelia Fitzpatrick from Rialto USD (San Bernardino County)
- John Norton from Bonsall USD (San Diego County)
They will join hands to showcase their success stories and innovation journey on how they created or revamped their expanded learning programs in the past three years. They will share the strategies and best practices for operating a successful ELO-P and maximizing student outcomes.
Additionally, we are honored to have Dr. Michelle Bowers, former Superintendent of the Year in LA County, past president of CAAASA, and CEO of Vital Educational Leadership Consulting, as our moderator, alongside Dr. Helen Wang, CEO and co-founder of 6crickets and a renowned computer scientist.
With great funding comes great responsibility, challenges, and opportunity, these exceptional expanded learning leaders will discuss the following topics:
- Proven strategies to meet the ELO-P intent
- How to tackle the staffing shortage
- How to increase student participation and improve program attendance
- Effective ways to engage our community partners
- How we truly make parents our partners in this effort
- Managing expanded learning operations efficiently and effectively
- Improve accountability and learn how to measure student outcomes and program success.
If you manage your district's ELO-P, this is a must-attend webinar! These presenters understand the challenges and will share innovative solutions that work.
