About this Event
Join scientists from the , the world’s longest-running study of a wild dolphin population, and learn about dolphin neighbors who call Sarasota Bay home and how decades of research and new technologies are improving understanding of the behavior and habitat of dolphins and other marine species in the Bay.

Enjoy a presentation by SDRP Director Katie McHugh about the decades of exciting dolphin research taking place in Sarasota Bay, followed by audience Q&A.
12:00 pm | Listening to the Bay: Tracking Marine Wildlife Through Sound
Katy Holmes, SBLN Manager & Staff Scientist, and Krystan Wilkinson, Program Manager & Senior Scientist, will share how acoustic monitoring is giving scientists a new way to study dolphins and other marine wildlife beneath the surface, followed by audience Q&A.
Register is encouraged, not mandatory. Walk ups welcome!

Know Before You Go
- Free Parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis in front of the Van Wezel (777 N. Tamiami Trail), Municipal Auditorium and Blue Pagoda (655 N. Tamiami Trail), as well as along the north side of Blvd of the Arts and in the nearby Rosemary District. Please avoid parking on the south side of Blvd of the Arts and in designated Sarasota Orchestra parking areas.
- Pets: Well-behaved, non-aggressive pets are welcome and must remain on up to a 6-foot leash at all times. Pet owners are asked to pick up after their pets. For events held indoors, only service dogs are permitted.
- Safety: Please report any safety concerns to the Sarasota Police Department Non-Emergency Line, available 24 hours a day, at (941) 316-1199.
Weather Updates: In the event of inclement weather, this event will be moved INDOORS to the Blue Pagoda. Updates will be shared on , , and up to one hour before the scheduled start time.

Check out the two newly installed marine wildlife monitoring stations at The Bay. Underwater monitoring stations help scientists study Sarasota Bay’s marine wildlife and ecosystem health. Hydrophones record sounds from dolphins, manatees and other animals, as well as their environment, while acoustic receivers detect tagged fish, sharks and other species. Together, these tools reveal animal behavior, habitat use and the effects of human activity and environmental change.
