About this Event

Understanding and Treating Postpartum Depression: An Evidence‑Based Training

Event Description:
More Than Therapy and TEAMS LLC Lunch and Learn series presents:

Postpartum depression (PPD) is one of the most common and least treated complications of childbirth, with profound effects on mothers, infants, partners, and the entire family system. This interactive, bring‑your‑own‑lunch training equips healthcare and behavioral health professionals with practical, evidence‑based tools to recognize, assess, and treat PPD across settings.

Participants will learn how to distinguish PPD from the “baby blues,” identify key risk factors and warning signs, and use validated screening tools such as the EPDS and BDI‑II to improve early detection. We will review current research and guidelines on effective treatment, including pharmacologic options (e.g., SSRIs/SNRIs, novel neuroactive steroids), CBT and IPT, mindfulness‑based approaches, and telehealth‑enabled care, as well as how to match intervention intensity to symptom severity.

The session also addresses stigma, access barriers, and health equity, with a focus on supporting diverse families through partner/family education, peer support, and community‑based resources. Attendees will leave with concrete strategies to enhance screening, safety planning, referral pathways, and follow‑up within their own practices and organizations.

This is a relaxed, Lunch & Learn event with food by , but feel free to bring your own lunch if that is not your preference. Water and light refreshments will be provided.
