Lunch & Learn- The Forgotten Fight
We all know Lexington and Concord kicked off the American Revolution, but what about the year-long conflict in the South that actually led directly to the Declaration of Independence? Virginia's royal governor, Lord Dunmore, had a radical plan: recruit enslaved people into his Ethiopian Regiment. Southern planters were terrified. This forgotten story reveals how the South's struggle for independence was far messier, far more dramatic, and far more important than history textbooks admit.
Presented by Andrew Lawler, an experienced journalist and author. His most recent book is A Perfect Frenzy: A Royal Governor, His Black Allies, and the Crisis that Spurred the American Revolution.
