Lunch and Learn with The Art Station: Beyond Words
About this Event
Beyond Words: Using Art to Explore Emotions is an experiential Lunch & Learn designed for mental health professionals interested in incorporating creative, art-based interventions into their clinical practice. Clients may recognize that they are experiencing something emotionally significant but struggle to identify, describe, or communicate the experience verbally. Art-making can provide another pathway for exploring emotions through color, line, shape, imagery, metaphor, sensory experience, and visual symbolism.
Participants will learn practical ways to use art to help clients identify, externalize, explore, and communicate emotions while maintaining client choice and avoiding assumptions about what artwork "means." The session will also address adapting creative interventions for children, adolescents, and adults, as well as considerations for trauma-informed and culturally responsive practice.
Participants are welcome to bring their lunch or can also choose to have boxed lunch for an addtional fee. There will be a separate email for luch orders sent out prior to the event for particpants to chosse their selections.
