Welcome to the iaedp Lunch & Learn event! Join us for an insightful session on How To Talk about the medical side of EDs when I’m not a doctor, presented by Christine Stockert, RN.
Individuals with eating disorders experience medication complications as a direct result of the disorder. The complications can be severe, and if left untreated can lead to death. In addition to experiencing complications as a result of the ED, individuals can also experience complications as a result of the reintroduction of food. Many non-medical professionals are familiar with some of the medical complications of eating disorders, but don’t always feel comfortable speaking directly to their clients about them. During this presentation, clinicians take an in depth look at several of the common medical complications seen at the outpatient level (or lower levels of care like PHP and IOP), why they occur, and how they can address these complications with their clients.
