Lunaris - Anna Stegmann & Jorge Jimenez

This replaces the previously advertised concert by Ymnus, who have had to withdrawn due to illness.
Always present in the night sky yet tantalisingly out of reach, the moon has inspired dreams, myths and imagination for centuries. It can illuminate the darkness or disappear from view altogether, constantly changing while remaining reassuringly familiar. In Lunaris, recorder player Anna Stegmann and violinist and vielle player Jorge Jiménez explore this mysterious presence through four musical worlds inspired by the phases of the moon.
Playing recorders, vielle and baroque violin, Anna and Jorge move freely between centuries. Medieval melodies encounter music of the present day; medieval canons merge with the sounds of Luciano Berio, while Bela Bartok converses with Johann Sebastian Bach. A programme of moonlight, transformation and imagination, Lunaris invites us to look upwards… and to dream.
