The Year of the Snake begins in late January according to the lunar calendar, a calendar once in use all over Asia. The Lunar New Year is still the largest festival in China and other countries, lasting over a week. The tea plant, camellia sinensis, originated in China, and they pioneered the complex varieties and processes the go into a cup of tea. Even today the most popular tea is grown and processed in China, Vietnam, and Japan. So how can we tea lovers let this holiday go by without a tea party?
Enjoy tasting five different types of tea, both flavored New Year celebration teas and quality single-origin teas from around Asia, as we celebrate the Year of the Dragon with decorations and food. While tea may be the star here, food is the supporting cast. Along with the teas, we’ll enjoy traditional cakes and goodies from many different Asian countries. The menu always includes a variety of vegan and gluten-free options made by an allergy aware baker.
As a special Lunar New Year's tradition, we will also take a moment to learn about the Chinese zodiac animals, your sign, and what energies the New Year might bring.
The $25 ticket covers 5 different types/flavors of tea to taste, Asian cakes and New Years snacks, a brief Chinese astrology reading, and a decorative menu to keep track of new favorite teas. Tickets available in advance only: https://form.jotform.com/240105320669146
