The public is invited to Lunadas del Valle, a night of poetry, storytelling, music, and art on Saturday, September 26th, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Búho Bookstore in downtown Brownsville. This event will be curated by Michael Jones. Emcee: Daniel García Ordaz (a.k.a. The Poet Mariachi) with music TBD. Featured artist is Michael Jones.
Featured readers will have 7 to 10 minutes to perform. An open-mic session will follow, as time permits--with 5 minutes per open-mic performer.
This is a free event brought to you by the Seven To Eight Poetry Project. Lunadas del Valle will be held: on June 27, July 25, Aug. 22, and Sept. 26. While, traditionally, a lunada was a cultural celebration held outdoors for hundreds of years in Mexico under a full moon, ours will be indoors and/or outdoors, since we live in the sweltering heat of the Rio Grande Valley.
We'd like to encourage guests to consider donating new or gently used books to Brownsville's only independent bookstore. This is not required, but welcome.
