Join us for our very first Book Club at Luminous Books and Records! We will talk about the newest “Cozy October” Mystery by one of America’s favorite authors, “The Witch” by Freida McFadden!
The Witch is a dual-timeline psychological and supernatural thriller that alternates between present-day Massachusetts and 1692, at the time of the Witch trials. The story follows Julia Barlow, who has lost her job and apartment, forcing her to move into her family’s sprawling estate to care for her elderly grandmother, but the house seems to be haunted. A deceased ancestor, who was hung as a witch in the 17th century, calls to her, leading Julia to investigate the house, and mysteries surrounding her family’s dark history. The book pivots between both women’s perspectives and time periods, and though a slight break from Frieda’s typical psychological thriller, it is still filled with plenty of her signature plot twists and revelations. This paranormal historic mystery is perfect for cozying up to read on October and early November nights.
