NL Lulu’s Baby, geïnspireerd door horrorfilms en operatiekamers, is een ironische, utopische visie op de toekomst die ons op speelse wijze, via zowel verontrustende als betoverende beelden, uitnodigt om na te denken over de mogelijkheden van gemeenschap los van genderbeperkingen en moederrollen. Mensen gemaakt buiten het menselijk lichaam zelf – en dus buiten de baarmoeder – blijken een toevluchtsoord. En een thema zo oud als de mensheid zelf.
FR Tant inspiré·es qu'effrayé·es par leurs propres expériences, Sahar Rahimi et Lucy Wilke cherchent refuge dans des utopies post-humanistes où les êtres humains sont conçus hors du corps humain, et donc hors de l’utérus – un thème aussi vieux que l’humanité elle-même. Lulu’s Baby, inspiré par les films d’horreur et les blocs opératoires, offre une vision ironique et utopique de l’avenir qui, à travers des images à la fois troublantes et envoûtantes, nous invite de manière ludique à réfléchir aux potentialités d’une communauté affranchie des contraintes de genre et des rôles maternels.
EN Drawing on horror films and operating rooms, Lulu’s Baby is an ironic, utopian vision of the future that playfully invites us, through images both unsettling and beguiling, to reflect on the possibilities of community beyond gender constraints and maternal roles. Human beings created outside of the human body, and thus outside the uterus, turn out to be a topic as old as humanity itself.
