Celebrate AANHPI Heritage month by sharing culture and building community through cooking workshops taught by a few incredible local chefs.
About this Event

May marks the annual celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month which acknowledges and recognizes the historical and cultural contributions of individuals and groups of Asian and Pacific Islanders in the United States.

This month was chosen for AAPI Heritage Month because it commemorates the immigration of the first Japanese people to the United States on May 7, 1843. May is also a significant month because it recognizes Golden Spike Day, May 10, 1869, which marks the completion of the transcontinental railroad that was built with significant contributions from Chinese workers.

This year, join lululemon as we celebrate AAPI Heritage Month through three weeks of cooking and connection. We will be highlighting four local AAPI-identifying chefs who will walk us through preparing and cooking a dish of their choice.

Each event will have 20 tickets available with the ability to purchase two tickets per person. All proceeds benefitting an AAPI-Based and food equity charitable cause. Please stay tuned for more details.

Chef Steven Ono of Ono Poke

Dish: Ahi Poke Bowl

About Chef Ono:

Born and raised in Kahalu'u, O'ahu I grew up as a waterboy - fishing, surfing and diving every chance I got.My Uncle Reuben was a commercial fisherman who taught me how to cut fish and make Poke at a very young age. His boat, the Popo Too, is still moored at the He'eia Kea Pier. I even use the knife he gave me when I was 8 years old everyday! I was, and continue to be, a Foodie even before it became a thing. I know all the best places to eat... ask anyone who knows me and they'll tell you!

Since moving to Seattle, the one craving I always have is for authentic Hawaiian-style poke. No mo hea la dat – So I had to open my own place!

Come by, eat some poke and talk story. Mahalo and A Hui Hou!
