Luke Prater Up Close and Personal

Luke Prater is a rising Texas country singer-songwriter and guitarist from La Vernia, Texas, known for his melodic, guitar-driven style and heartfelt storytelling . A native of La Vernia High School, he began playing guitar as a toddler and singing in church as soon as he was allowed on stage . Raised on the sounds of George Strait and Alan Jackson, he blends traditional Texas country with a modern edge, delivering gritty hooks and nostalgic warmth .

Prater first entered the music scene in 2018 with an independent self-titled EP, quickly building a following through relentless touring — often playing 100+ shows a year . In 2021, he toured with Curtis Grimes, opening for 105 shows across 13 states, which helped launch his recording career San Angelo LIVE. His debut full-length album, “Pickin’ & Grinnin’”, was released in January 2026, featuring tracks like the title track (with Curtis Grimes), “Take That Chance,” “This Town,” and “Crossroads” .
